After AAF Amsterdam

I absolutely love Amsterdam, what a great city to exhibit in!

Returning for the second year and seeing more than 10,000 visitors, we met some wonderful clients during the five day fair; the Dutch are companionable people who are keen to absorb information and openly discuss the artwork. We enjoyed some great hospitality in the many little bistros in the area of Westergasfabriek where the fair was held and I’m already looking forward to returning in 2009!

Unique bronzes by Stanley Dove

“Unique Bronzes”

Most bronze sculptures are cast in limited editions. This means that a master mould is made from which wax casts are pulled to be turned into bronze by the Lost Wax process.

Conversely these unique sculptures have been modelled directly in wax so that the work can be cast without a master mould, the original wax being lost in the process.

The fact that an expensive master mould is not necessary allows the artist to be less inhibited in his ideas. It could be said that the uniqueness of these pieces make them more collectable.
