Sara Habgood
After a foundation at Banbury School of Art, Sara went on to Goldsmiths’ College, University of London, to complete her degree in Fine Art.
The recent painting marks a departure from previously more figurative work. This new body of work reflects a love of bold, positive, exuberant and decorative images. The pieces are strong and graphic and use different techniques and textures to explore the process of representation. They aim to elicite a positive sensory interaction with the viewer.
Recently she has been developing the style known as “pintura matérica”, in which non artistic materials are incorporated into the paintings, media such silver leaf, encaustic and plaster relief. Some of the work is calm and contemplative, other pieces are more playful. All are to be enjoyed.
Sara work is held in private collections in the UK and overseas (Canada, Italy, South Africa, Spain and the USA).
