Paul Bell is a contemporary Scottish artist living in Beaconsfield Buckinghamshire. Paul’s work is characterised by his bold use of colour and form and takes inspiration and influence from the likes of Matisse, the Scottish colourists and The fauve movement.
Having studied at Glasgow School of Art in the early 80’s, Paul worked for a number of years as an Interior designer before specialising in Architectural Illustration. Paul subsequently returned to his first love painting a few years ago having a painting shortlisted in the prestigeous BP portrait prize in 2014 before winning the BBC 1 series ‘The Big Painting Challenge’ in 2015. Paul had two of his painting from the series exhibited at Tate Britain.
