Kirsten Walsh

My work is informed by my time in the theatre - I love the idea of a painting suggesting a narrative and I am attracted to the theatricality of ornate costume and props. Influences come from many and varied sources, from Fairy tales to religious iconography, via historical portraiture and carnival posters.I am very interested in traditional painting oil painting techniques and try to use materials and methods that reflect this.
