Jonathan Need

I have been photographing nature and wildlife for over 30 years.  My images cover all aspects of the natural world including Wildlife, Wild flowers, Fungi and Landscapes.
I use Nikon digital cameras with a wide variety of different focal length lenses ranging from wide angle to long telephotos.

Some of my images are the result of  many weeks if not years of preparation to get close to subjects in the wild using hides or camouflage for concealment.  Other images are achieved by just split second timing to capture just the right moment.

In 2019 I was awarded 1st place in the International Garden photographer of the year in the ‘Wildlife in the garden’ category and this year 2020 I have been so far shortlisted in the Bird photographer of the year award.

Six years ago I moved to Snowdonia National park in North Wales to be close to nature and the elements in order to further my work as a professional nature photographer.

My work has been published in many publications both in the UK and abroad. Much of my work is represented my some of the leading picture agencies in the country.
Clients include: Infocado, Outdoor Photography Magazine, The Telegraph, The Guardian, BBC Gardeners World Magazine, RHS The Garden Magazine, Garden Answers magazine and many more.
