Jo Hanrahan

Born in Oxfordshire in 1973 Jo now lives and works from home in Buckinghamshire.  She draws her inspiration from a long held fascination with the tradition and culture of the East.  Particularly the ‘mask’ make up worn by the Maiko and Geisha and the intricate Kimono and the subtle messages that can be read from them.  The difference in perceived beauty between East and West.

Primarily self-taught past foundation, Jo studied Law at University.  Since having her four children she has focused more time on her painting.  She works primarily in oils and acrylics and has exhibited locally on numerous occasions and has hosted other artists to exhibit from her home during Bucks Open Studios.
