Isabel Fallow

Isabel’s artistic career began as a trainee teacher in her native Scotland.  Her interest continued to develop and later, after completing a Fine Art Degree, she joined a growing collective of artists with studios in a former furniture warehouse in Buckinghamshire. She is currently completing the final part of a Masters in Printmaking.

Working mainly in the mediums of acrylic and oil paint, many of her paintings are landscape based but also focus on an underlying search for identity and meaning. It is not surprising that her homeland often features in her work. Isabel explains that her Inspiration comes from the fusion of memory and the personal experience of living and being; an awareness of sensation, sound and colour.  Like memories of songs and poems, Isabel believes that spaces and places remain within us and through the process of painting, they are recalled, re-emerging as new spaces; sometimes – imaginary spaces and sometimes – places of dreams and hopes.

From the remote and rugged Scottish landscape, encountering both nature and weather to the fascinating Temple gardens of Japan, Isabel seeks to convey her experience of seeing and being in the world.
